Am I My Brother’s Keeper?

My Brother’s Keeper

What exactly does being your “brother’s keeper” mean? Scripture says that God loved us so much that He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ. And, because Jesus loved us so much, He gave His life for all of humanity. He took our sins upon Himself so that we could repent and be forgiven of our sins by our Father in Heaven.

John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

There is so much we can learn from Putin’s war going on in Ukraine right now. The destruction of lives, families, homes, and businesses has been catastrophic, to say the least. None of it makes any sense. But, through the turmoil, chaos, and confusion of all that is going on, people from around the world are pulling together for Ukraine. They are willing to sacrifice their lives to fight for what is right. The Ukrainian people are standing strong while sanctions are being enforced. And many volunteers from different countries are assisting the Ukrainian army.

Love for Your Fellow Man, Woman, and Child

This is the true definition of being my “brother’s keeper.” It does not matter what nationality, religion, color, creed, or culture you are. Just supporting by any means can help make a difference in this world. It’s the Love of God for your fellow man that flows through us. It’s our compassion and humanity that wants to help ease the heavy burden that the country of Ukraine is facing at this time. Scripture says in Galatians 6:2 – “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”

And this does not just pertain to wars but everyday life no matter what country we live in. We have to recognize that Jesus is the only way to the Father. Matthew 25:35 – For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in. Turn away from what is not pleasing to God and begin seeking Him through prayer, fasting, and worship.

God Has a Plan

But God has a plan! He is in control because He is the Alpha and Omega, the author and finisher of our faith. And, He created all things for His purpose. Now is the time to pray that His will be done on Earth. Why? Because it cannot be ours and God is doing a new thing in Ukraine. In spite of all the killing and destruction, it is having an effect in the unseen realm. The Russian people are making contact with Ukrainians. Why? To find out about their son, father, or brother through a “hotline” set up. The Russian soldiers were not told the truth about their mission. And their families are left with not knowing what has happened to their loved ones.

Sometimes it takes a war or natural disaster for people who do not believe in our Lord and Savior, to give their hearts to Him. Time is running short for the return of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Isaiah 55:6 “Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.” For God has a plan and it will be for His glory!

Peace and Love
